Michelle's books

Michelle Dujardin’s books combine art, mindfulness and a deep connection to nature. Her first two titles, 'het Zen tekenboek' and 'the Zen drawing pack', introduce her unique approach to Zen drawing—inspired by The Zen of Seeing by Frederick Franck, enriched with insights from psychology, Buddhism, and the drawing methods of Betty Edwards. These books are a gentle guide to mindful and intuitive drawing.

In 'Watercolor in simpele stappen', Michelle shares her personal watercolor technique using Sakura brush pens. The book includes creative art exercises that invite you to paint freely and with joy—perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike. You can read the blog post about the book here.

All of Michelle Dujardin’s books are currently sold out in print, but eBook versions are available or will be released soon. Below you will find more details about each title and links to the digital editions.

Het Zen tekenboek (Dutch)

Het Zen Tekenboek (translated: The Zen Drawing Book) was originally released in the Netherlands in 2012 by Asoka, and later published in 2018 by Edicola. The book explores the background of Zen Buddhism, how our brain works when we learn to draw, and includes practical exercises alongside Michelle’s personal experiences with Zen drawing. Both editions are currently sold out, but a Dutch eBook version is still available on Bol.com and Apple Books.

The Zen drawing pack (English)

The Zen Drawing Pack was published in 2014 by Rock Point Publishers and sold worldwide as a beautifully designed gift set. It included a reading book, a matching journal, and a set of drawing pencils. The original pack is sold out, but a digital version based on the book is still available on platforms like Amazon and Apple Books.

Watercolor in simpele stappen (dutch)

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of creative company Sakura Japan in 2021, I was invited to write a book about my watercolor technique using Sakura’s brush pens. The book was published in the Netherlands and quickly sold out. The eBook version in Dutch is available here and the English eBook will be released soon.
