With my artwork and books about Zen drawing and watercolor I hope to share my love for nature and raise (visual) awareness for the beauty of this planet, it's plants and animals. I believe everyone can learn how to draw and experience the joy of drawing.
My background in psychology is now translated into helping others to find inner stilness and peace through drawing, painting, writing and other ways to connect to nature. More information and videos about this can be found on my website www.zendrawing.com.
Due to my psychological background, I spoke with many people about the hardships in their life. Therefore I know how important personal attention can be when someone has a difficult time or looses a loved one in their life. I also understand how difficult it can be to find the right words when you want to tell someone that you care.
This is why I create sympathy card designs with stillness, simplicity and softness so they offer comfort with a lighthearted feeling.
I am absolutely a fan of nature in all it's forms. From beautiful landscapes to amazing plants, trees, flowers animals and birds. I was raised enjoying watching animals and birds. I often bring my camera and use my photos as an inspiration for my paintings.
My house is full of crystals, fossils and plants. I even use my own recorded 'plant music' in my videos, how amazing is that! I write about my ways to connect to nature on my Zen drawing blog.
Although I like to keep my personal life a bit 'behind the scenes', my videos (as seen on www.zendrawing.com) do show me and my dog Bodhi walking and playing in nature often accompanied by a mysterious grey haired man. That is Willem, my partner. In my life he is the only person I know that, in Buddhist terms, 'has realized his own true nature' and now has a 'no mind'. We share a love for animals and nature and he does not only walk the dog with me, but he also contributes to my books and is responsible for the business side my work.
